My name is Shaked Sabatani, I'm 25 years old
and live in Tel Aviv. I'm a third year student
in Textile Design, specialising in knitting techniques
at Shenkar Engineering and Design School, Ramat-Gan.
I'm particularly fond of and interested
in exploring and creating colour palettes and shapes.
A series of geometric patterns hand-drawn with coloured markers. The patterns are inspired by African women’s clothing. I used characteristics and attributes of masks, tribal female figures, as well as symbols with natural, warm colour tones.

Extension & Contraction
The present project assesses fibres with different characteristics of extension and contraction, in order to achieve control over the materials' characteristics and to perform design manipulations. The materials went through a series of processes, such as scutching and needle puncture in order to merge the fibres and to transform them into a fabric layer. They finally went through wet felting at various temperatures to obtain the desired result.
